0 Once there was a huge sacred place in the direction of the land lying above, there was the huge Nadym. 1 In this place there stands a seven-branched sacred birch. 2 The people take care of this birch their whole life. 3 Every man offers a sacrifice to this place (bloodless sacrifice). 4 Once, while they were offering a sacrifice, the roots of the sacred birch rotted. 5 After the roots rotted, the sacred birch fell on the ground, it fell when its seventh root rotted. 6 Out of the end of the birch's root blood appeared. 7 The blood was nor blood, it was fire. 8 After the fire, holy water was visible. 9 Then each one of the countries, all was drowned in the holy water. 10 The people living on the Earth made a raft, from every animal on the Earth they brought one onto the raft. 11 After that, they took all great magicians to the hills of the sacred place's headland; when the water was high, they cried out seven times, then the water ebbed about one span. 12 Then everyone took everything promised onto the raft. 13 When the summer and winter had passed, the water ebbed. 14 Then they wait for the holy water. 15 They said: "A great magician will summon the holy water again. Then every man will make a raft out of willow, [they] will wrap it with dog fur! On the raft, when God releases his good will, everyone will live there." 16 Now the time of the holy water's arrival has come again.
