1 the man and the forest sprite
2 a man went to the forest to make beehives inside a tree cave, and it was told, that he was walking around, to look for a (suitable) tree. 
3 then the forest sprite met him and asked: "what you looking for?"
4 the man said: "i am looking for a (suitable) tree, to make beehives".
5 "come along, i will show you!" said the forest sprite, led him to show him a tree and said: "make three beehives in this tree, three yards upwards from the root, but no more beehives beyond!"
6 the man did what the forest sprite told him.
7 afterwards (in spring) the man went to the forest to close the (beehives) and the forest sprite saw him again and asked: "what are you doing?"
8 the man said: "i'm looking for caps to cover the beehives".
9 "come along, i will show you!" said the forest sprite, led him, and after three long days of searching, he found (suitable) wood for covering.
10 after that the man covered the beehives with the caps (actually wood) which the forest sprite found (actually showed him).
11 the forest sprite showed him the king of the trees.
12 after that the man went back in summer to check back the beehives, and the bees were moving in all (the beehives). 
13 then the forest sprite appiered again and said: "look, the bees moved in! you may make no more beehives! just take care for these! without me you are not allowed to open the beehives!"
14 the man went back in autumn to harvest the honey and opened (the beehives) without waiting for the forest sprite.
15 when he opens them, the beehives were full with blood; quickly he closed (the beehives). 
16 the forest sprite came around and asked: "did you open them without me?" (however the forest sprite didn't see, what the man did, he should know everything.)
17 the man confessed, that he opened them.
18 "i told you: «don't open!» didn't i!" said the forest sprite.
19 then the forest sprite left him after his following words: "bring barrels, collect your honey and brew mead; have ready a number of bowls and spoons, and also all kinds of food and drinks! i am coming to you in a day with people from a wedding, then you have to wait here. but don't be afraid, they won't hurt you.
20 the man did, what the forest sprite told him: he prepared all kinds of food and drinks and he brewed mead.
21 after that he was waiting for the day the forest sprite wanted to come. meanwhile the spruces started to move: a strong breeze sprung up, which made all, all spruces and (other) trees bending, and so on the forest sprite's wedding entourage arrived. 
22 he (the man) catered them generously with the prepared food and drinks.
23 then the people from the forest sprite's wedding went away with a same swoosh and made the trees bending.
24 the augural forest sprite, who was staying behind (the others), said to him: "now you will be very rich, you are going to be a merchent!"
25 the man became very rich, as the forest sprite predicted.
26 his bees proliferated.
27 depending on the proliferation, he took the swarm of bees home; he got a lot of bees.
28 after being very rich, he became a merchent.
