1 the Vu-murt and the rope-maker. 2 a man was braiding a rope on the lakefront. 3 during the braiding a Vu-murt came out (of the lake) to him. 4 while he was coming out he asked: "man, why are you braiding this rope?" 5 "to turn (actually put) the lake ground up" - said the man. 6 "you [are] probably quite strong, you overmuch boast; don't boast, rather let [us] wrestle first, then we find out, who among us (actually who) is stronger!" 7 "how could you (actually how is) wrestle with me, first you have to wrestle with my grandpa!" - said the man. 8 saying that he send the Vu-murt to the bear. 9 when the bear saw the Vu-murt: "why did you come here?" - he shouted with his vulgar voice. 10 hearing this the Vu-murt strated to tremble and with little lacking (actually just a little bit), he didn't fall off his feet. 11 after that he run into the lake, his head exposing legs. 12 here he said when he saw the man sitting at the lake: "thereafter i believe, [that] you [are] quite strong; how scary just [even] your grandpa is, although you have to be stronger. so then we (ourselves) try (actually search, test) running; the one who moves more forward, is the winner". 13 they agreed, that they run three times around the lake. 14 when they started running around the lake, the man back a horse and left the Vu-murt far away. 15 seeing this the Vu-murt [thusly] said to the man again: "ej, ej, it seems, that you are really strong, you just put the horse between your legs like a little thing and were running quite fast; i couldn't even reach you; so therefore let's run on foot!" 16 "but why do you want to run again, i will outpace you anyway - said the man; - go rather and compete with my little brother (running), if you can get in front of him (actually if you take his front), then i will go myself". 17 "where is your little brother?" - asked the Vu-murt. 18 "clap your hands at the edge of the forest and shout like: hey man's little brother, let's run a competition! then he will run" - the man explained to the Vu-murt. 19 the Vu-murt went to the edge of the forest, how the man told him and when he clapped his hands, a white rabbit came out of the forest. 20 "this is the man's little brother!" - de Vu-murt thought and started to run after the rabbit. 21 he were running, running, and lost sight of the rabbit. 22 at the end he was exhausted and ceased running (actually he stopped from running). 23 after that he went to the man again and said: "it's true, that you are stronger [than me]; therefore i ask you (actually i'm asking for), don't destroy my lake! lo i give you money, as much as you want (actually want to take)". 24 the man only wanted to have a hat full of money. 25 the Vu-murt answered [that]: "alright!". 26 then the man went home and dug a big hole in his yard. 27 after that he shut the top of it, so that only a hole was left as big as a hat. 28 on the top of the hole he put his bottomless hat. 29 after a short (actually some) time the Vu-murt came to the man with the money. 30 the man ordered to pour the money into the hat. 31 the Vu-murt was pouring and pouring and couldn't see the money (anymore). 32 the man ordered the Vu-murt to bring more money and pour it into the hat again. 33 the Vu-murt brought: but the hat still wasn't filled; he brought again: still not filled. 34 he was carrying and carrying (the money) [until finally] on the seventh day he succeeded to fill the hole. 35 from that time on the rope-maker began to live a good life; during a celebration (actually at the time) i visited him (actually arrived to him), he lived happily.
